How this calculator works
- 1Standard deduction of ₹50,000 is auto-applied under the old regime; ₹75,000 under the new regime (Budget 2024).
- 2Old regime deductions include Section 80C (PPF, ELSS, LIC etc.), 80D medical insurance, HRA exemption, NPS 80CCD(1B), and others.
- 3New regime does not allow most deductions — only the ₹75,000 standard deduction is applied.
- 4Rebate under Section 87A: ₹12,500 for old regime (income ≤ ₹5 lakh) and ₹25,000 for new regime (income ≤ ₹7 lakh).
- 54% Health & Education Cess is applied on tax after rebate for both regimes.
